Volunteering in Israel has been our dream for a last two years, after we visited here for the first time. We both fell in love with this holy land immediately and as a Christians wanted to give something for the people of Israel.
We are sisters from Finland, Venla 22 and Aino 20. We wanted to come here together because we share the same love to Israel and its people. The time in here has been really special for us also because in Finland we live 500 kilometers apart. We haven’t had this much time to live together in two years which made this experience even more important. And together we have experience great moments in ADI Negev and also all around Israel.
We found ADI through one Finnish organization called Israelin ystävät (The friends of Israel). We both love people no matter what and we are practical nurses as well, so it was clear that we wanted to work with people in need. That’s why ADI was perfect match for us.
ADI Negev is more than we expected. For residents it is not just place to live, it is home full of love. The way every single person is appreciated and loved, leaves us speechless and amazed. In ADI Negev it doesn’t matter where you came from; the disabilities, religions, cultures, languages or nationality everyone is treated equality.
We came from another country and culture and didn’t even have the same language. But still we were taken into ADI family. And the easiest way to communicate was to use the language of love. Here we have learnt that the small things matter the most; holding hands, singing songs, being there for each other and see smiles on their faces.
Thank you for the opportunity to make something that matters!
