“I am the mother of a lovely 29 year old daughter named Jewel.
I know how important it is that all jewels with special needs get the best care possible.
I have worked for several years with agencies for the disabled, but I have never come across a place like ADI Village!
As a child growing up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York, I always had a love for Israel. I dreamed that one day I would visit the holy land. Finally my dream came true. In March 2016, I came to Israel for the first time. On the plane ride back to Florida, I noticed a donation envelope on the seat of the plane for ADI.
I was completely enamored with the vision and the mission of ADI. I searched to find more about ADI on their website.
I tried to arrange a tour of ADI on my next visit to Israel; however Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was touring during the same time, so quite understandably, we had to reschedule.
I was moved with compassion by General Doron’s Ted talk in Tel Aviv. From one parent’s heart to another.
I asked Dov about “adopting” a child at ADI and I was considering that at the time.
A few days later, I noticed the website link for “International Volunteers”. I applied to be a volunteer and was granted a 1-year volunteer work visa!
In life I believe there are no coincidences.
I want to also be an ambassador for ADI in the future.
My loving abba is 94 years old. He says sometimes in life you only have one opportunity to do something. So, last month, he told me to go for it! Go to Israel! Be a volunteer! I am so glad I did!”
