RAYS OF INCLUSIVE LOVE FROM THE SUNSHINE STATE!

Last week, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (#IDPD), hundreds of students from South Florida learned about ADI, discussed the importance of disability inclusion, and created beautiful Sensory Chanukah Cards to adorn the hallways, classrooms and bedrooms of ADI’s rehabilitative and residential centers across Israel.

The students used bright colored art supplies and safe materials with interesting textures, like cotton balls, corrugated paper, pipe cleaners and yarn, to make the cards interesting for the ADI residents to look at and fun for them to touch.

The incredible educational staff at Brauser Maimonides Academy, Donna Klein Jewish Academy, and the Posnack School documented the activities at their respective schools, all noting that they were so proud of their students for asking wonderful questions about disability and inclusion, as well as incredibly impressed with the time, attention and creativity put into each card.

We are so grateful for their partnership…and excited that this meaningful educational activity is just the beginning! In February, in honor of Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (#JDAIM), ADI will be working with its new partners in South Florida to implement special disability inclusion programming under the name ‘ADI Bechinuch.’ Stay tuned for details!
