New Residential Medical Clinic Opens at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran

The new Residential Medical Clinic at the ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village was dedicated in a moving ceremony on Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish Arbor Day symbolizing renewal and growth.

The event was honored by the participation of Aryeh Deri, Minister of the Interior and Minister of the Development of the Negev and Galilee; Sigal Shaltiel-Halevi, Director-General of the Ministry of the Development of the Negev and Galilee; Shay Hagag, Mayor of the Merhavim Regional Council, and donors Chana and Yitzchak Yitzhaki and children. ADI Negev Chairman Major General (res.) Doron Almog, ADI Director General Yehuda Marmorstein, and ADI Negev CEO Avi Wortzman welcomed the guests.

Thanks to the magnanimous donation made by the Eleos Home Trust of New Zealand, construction of the clinic building was completed in timely fashion with the dedication ceremony held accordingly.

Minister Deri praised the vital lifesaving role of the new clinic. Chana Yitzhaki, who dedicated the clinic in her parents’ memory, expressed the hope and aspiration to help ease the suffering of the residents. Doron Almog, whose late son Eran had been one of the Village’s first residents, hailed the quest to bring quality of life to Israel’s most vulnerable population on the path toward Tikkun Olam.

Established in the heart of the residential area and vocational center of the Village, the new clinic will enable a comprehensive and immediate medical response to over 140 residents living on premises. The 3-meter, 2-story building includes private examination rooms with all requisite medical equipment; a medicine room, a meeting area for paramedical and caregiving staff, kitchenette, lobby, diagnostic room, a training wing and paramedic training center, social work center, and emergency room. Medicines will be distributed at the clinic, and a physician, paramedic staff, and social worker will work on the premises each day.

During the course of the event, participants met with rehabilitation patients from the area, who expressed great satisfaction with the close proximity and excellent services provided by ADI Negev’s Rehabilitation Center. They were also deeply impressed by the integrative nursery day center on the Village premises.

The new residential medical clinic is yet another step down the road toward making  ADI Negev a lifesaving center for medicine, rehabilitation, and caregiving for Israel’s south.
