Elad’s Rehabilitation

Elad’s Rehabilitation

Elad Ohana was flung out of his car as his vehicle flipped over and rolled into a ditch on the side of the road.

With internal cranial bleeding, 32-year-old Elad Ohana of Kiryat Gat was air-lifted to Soroka Hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma and ventilated. Two weeks later, Elad was transferred to Beit Levinstein for continued rehabilitation. Elad had partial memory loss, broken ribs, reoccurring headaches, an intense loss of stability and restricted mobility.

Despite the distance from Elad’s home in Kiryat Gat to Beit Levinstein in Raanana, Elad’s family overcame the challenge and maintained a constant presence at Elad’s side, 24 hours a day. Family support provides an immense advantage in patient recuperation and rehabilitation at such a critical time.

Upon being transferred to ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran’s outpatient rehabilitation wing, Elad began to see significant progress, taking part in weekly sessions of physical therapy, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy and psychological counseling.

Step-by-step, Elad began to regain his former abilities. Elad was able to travel by bus, arriving for therapy on his own and taking advantage of the fact that all therapies were located in one, close-to-home location.

Elad’s recovery is a combination of his own strong motivation and the amazing support of ADI’s dedicated professional staff, together with the cutting-edge technological means utilized by ADI for the advancement and rehabilitation of students, residents and outpatients.  A true story of faith and willpower that once again prove that the sky is the limit.

Elad’s story mirrors the story of many rehabilitation patients in Southern Israel. The southern population warrants the very best, and we will continue providing the quality care they deserve.

The new Neuro-orthopedic Rehabilitation Hospital scheduled to open next year at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran in conjunction with the Translational Research Clinic and the innovative “Back to Myself” program that provides tools and empowers rehabilitation patients to rejoin the competitive job market will afford Israel’s southern population an outstanding solution to all of their rehabilitation needs.

Because the strength of society’s chain is forever judged by the strength of its weakest link.
