Coming Full Circle: Solomon Schechter Students Team Up with ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran

Last November, a special project was launched in a cooperative endeavor between ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran and students at the Solomon Schechter Jewish Day School in New Jersey.

LeADIng the project was Mati Franco David, the dedicated school teacher who initiated the unique program.  Inspired by her former association with Major General (res) Doron Almog, who dedicated himself to the development of a framework that would be a quality home for life for his severely disabled son Eran, Mati and her students collected donations on Thanksgiving Day to benefit the residents of the village. The value of their act of kindness far surpassed its monetary worth, constituting an expression of love of mankind, human values, tolerance, and acceptance of those who are different.

To the delight of the Jewish Day School students, the project culminated in a trip to Israel.  The tour throughout the country included visits to Jewish historical sites, among them Massada and the Dead Sea. An unforgettable trip to ADI Negev left its indelible impression on the students, exposing them to the social values of the people of Israel by witnessing the incredible quality of care offered to its most vulnerable members.

Mati expressed her intention to return to ADI Negev in the future with additional groups of students.

The moving visit and the special connection forged between students and Village children, transcend boundaries, culture and language, propelling us ever further in the quest toward Tikkun Olam and meaningful change in our society.

We need your support!

By donating to ADI Israel, YOU will help us meet our goal to enable each child, regardless of the severity of disability.
