“70th Journey” and ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran March for Israel

ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran welcomed Hatzeva pre-army preparatory unit students and Keren Hayesod (United Israel Appeal) staff to the village as part of the “70th Journey” march in honor of Israel’s 70th year.

The goal of the “70th Journey” social initiative is to march on foot across the entire country as a way of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. Various social and educational institutes divided Israel’s map into sections, with each group marching across their part of the country.

The Hatzeva group and UIA began their journey in Kibbutz Hatzerim in southern Israel and marched all day until reaching ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran. Upon reaching the village, hikers were joined by village residents. Together, the group continued walking while waving flags, singing and having much fun, until reaching the village’s all-accessible Charlie Shor amphitheater, their final destination.

Einat Ofir, vice-director of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, welcomed the marchers. “It is very moving to see both younger and the older people joining together to share the excitement of this event with residents of the village. It’s always a pleasure for us to open our home for such occasions.”

Mike Bailey, UIA Director of Development, added that the point of the march was to bring home the message that nothing should be taken for granted. Both ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran and “70th Journey” symbolize hard work put forth by good people, missions which should be admired and emulated by all.
